科学研究費助成事業 若手研究, 注意の内的・外的焦点化が運動協調性に及ぼす影響, 若手研究, 01 Apr. 2018 - 01 Mar. 2023, 3次元動作解析装置やセンサデバイスの開発と発展によって、動作中の関節角度や加速度などのデータを簡易的・定量的に取得することが可能となっている。しかし,運動学習の際に身体内部(姿勢や関節角度など)へ注意を向ける『内的焦点(Internal focus)』が学習効果を低下させるとの警鐘も鳴らされており、学習時に動作情報を安易にフィードバックすべきではないとの指摘がされている.先行研究においても、内的焦点がパフォーマンスに及ぼす影響について多くの報告がなされているが、どのような注意付けが「どの部分(関節)の動きに」「どのような」影響を与えているか、運動協調性の観点から検討した研究はない。本研究課題では、内的焦点および外的焦点が運動パフォーマンスおよび運動協調性に及ぼす影響を、注意の向け方や注意対象、そしてスキルレベルの相違から検討することを目的とする。 初年度では、ゴルフのパッティング課題を用いて、内的・外的焦点化の課題条件を設定した学習実験を実施した。実験は順調に進められ、当初予定した半数の被験者のデータを取得したが、実験の進行に伴い、プロトコルや実験条件の設定を変更する必要が出てきた。そのため、現在は実験を一時中断し、実験の課題条件やターゲット設定について再検討している。一方で、ゴルフのパッティング課題とは異なるスポーツにおける複合動作課題を用いた実験計画も進めており、予備実験を実施して、今後の本実験に向けて着手している状況である。 - Japan Society for the Promotion of Science
Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Young Scientists (B), The sports-sonarring: Influence of temporal and spatial lags of sound information on sports performance, Grant-in-Aid for Young Scientists (B), 01 Apr. 2015 - 01 Mar. 2018, In this study, we investigated the effects of auditory information on sports performance. First, we developed a headphone with the functions of “reversing the left and right surrounding sound” and “adding delay to sound.” Second, we clarified the influence of impact sounds of the ball and putter head on the feeling of the putt. Expert golfers and novices performed a putting task. The participants were asked to putt a golf ball to a target placed at three different distances. They performed the task in two different modes: presence (S) and absence (NoS) of the impact sound. As a result, for the experts, the absolute error of putts was significantly increased for the long target distance under the NoS condition, when compared with the S condition. For the novices, there were no differences between the two conditions for each of the target distances. These results suggest that impact sounds are useful for expert golfers and strongly influence their feeling of the longer putt. - Japan Society for the Promotion of Science
Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Research Activity Start-up, The influence of dual task on movement smoothness during a ball-bouncing task, Grant-in-Aid for Research Activity Start-up, 31 Aug. 2012 - 31 Mar. 2014, The purpose of this study was to compare experienced basketball players and novices in terms of kinematic variability and muscular activities of the upper limbs during basketball-bouncing movements in a dual task paradigm. The participants were college basketball players and novices. In dual task conditions, novices showed greater variability in the amplitude of shoulder angular displacement during bouncing movements than did experienced basketball players. These results suggest that the novices were more affected by variability in the angular displacement of the proximal element of the upper limb joint, and that this could negatively affect their performance by reducing the accuracy and smoothness of ball bouncing. These findings imply that there are differences in proximal control strategy that influence kinematics between skill levels.

Masato Iwami, Perceptual and Motor Skills, SAGE Publications Inc., 125, 2, Research paper (scientific journal), 10.1177/0031512518754467, 1558-688X,0031-5125, In putting, golfers require an internal forward sense of the causal relationship between putting actions and outcomes—a sense of distance—to decide appropriate impact intensity. As no previous work has shown such a cognitive ability in skilled golfers, we sought to quantify sense-of-distance skill differences between experts and novice golfers in both putting-swing consistency and accuracy of outcome estimation. We compared nine expert and nine novice golfers on putting-outcome estimation by having them putt a golf ball to a target located at three distances (1.2, 2.4, and 3.6 m), and then, after automatic closure of their electric-shutter spectacles immediately following putter impact with the ball, they gave their best estimate of where the ball stopped. We assessed outcome-estimation accuracy by calculating the absolute error between the stopped ball’s actual and estimated positions. We also measured and analyzed putter head-swing movements during the task using a motion-capture system. Two-way, mixed-design analysis of variance tests revealed that expert golfers achieved both significantly lower variability in putter-head kinematics and higher accuracy at outcome estimation than the novices. Linear partial correlation analyses with target distance as the control variable tested the relationship between outcome-estimation performance and putter-head variability kinematic measurements. There were no significant correlations between them for experts and novices in separate databases, while medium correlations were found in a collective database. Thus, swing consistency and a sense of distance are independent skills that both account for putting expertise, and specific training is required for each to improve putting skills. - スポーツ健康科学科目の現状と方向性

Eleven subjects were asked to vertically throw a rubber ball toward three different targets and then catch it, all while sitting in a chair (ACT). In addition, they performed the same task under a condition whereby mechanical interactions with the rubber ball were minimized. This condition encompassed two different modes: pantomime (PANTO) and imagination without swings (IMAGE). PANTO reproduced the motor patterns observed during ACT. The maximum amplitudes and maximum accelerations of the upward swing movements scaled well in linear proportion to the target distances, although the maximum accelerations were significantly smaller than those in the ACT trials. IMAGE led to the overestimation of the ball's flight time, which is represented by the release-catch intervals. PANTO significantly reduced this tendency. These results suggest that pantomimed motor execution can prime more realistic mental simulations of object motion when compared with purely imagined motor execution. - The sound of body movements: Synesthetic sound symbolism observed in human gesture

2016, 岩見 雅人, 日本体育学会大会予稿集, 一般社団法人 日本体育学会, 67, 0, 2424-1946,バスケットボールでは多岐にわたる身体能力とスキル、換言すると「強さ」や「巧さ」が必要となる。「強さ」についてはフィジカルフィットネス全般の強化、「巧さ」では主にドリブル、パス、シュートにおける技術向上を指している。これらのバスケットボールにおける専門的身体能力・スキルを如何にして測定・評価し、選手やコーチにフィードバックしていくかが、研究と現場をつなぐ重要な鍵となる。専門的スキルに関しては、動作解析や筋活動データなどから熟練者と未熟練者の差異が捉えられており、巧さを定量評価する試みがされている。本発表ではそれらの研究や構想をいくつか取り上げ、特定スキルの測定方法やセンサーから得られた値が持つ意味、そして現場への還元法について紹介したい。また、日本が世界の強豪国に伍する競技力を有するために、測定・評価すべき新たなパフォーマンス項目についても意見を交わす場としたい。

Participants were nine college basketball players and six novices. The participants were instructed to synchronize their bouncing movements with an auditory signal (100 bpm), and bouncing the ball as fast as possible when a light-emitting diode signal was turned on. During the bouncing task, two-dimensional body kinematics was recorded using a high-speed camera at 100 frames/s and the number of angular jerk (derivative of acceleration) zero-crossings was calculated. The variability of muscular activities was acquired by surface electromyography signals obtained at the shoulder, elbow, and wrist muscles. A muscle co-contraction index (CI) was calculated on the based on the activities of the flexor and extensor muscles of each joint.
The experienced basketball players showed a smaller CI and a smaller number of the angular jerk zero-crossings in the wrist muscles than the novices. These results indicate that the experienced basketball players bounced the ball more smoothly with lower joint stiffness than the novices. In contrast, the novices have "jerky" movements and higher co-contraction than the experienced basketball players in the speed-increase phase. These results suggest that experienced basketball players can control the speed of the ball with lower co-contraction and produce smoother bouncing movements in the speed-increase phase of the task than the novices.

The participants were asked to jump onto an unstable surface to test their body control. Further, we identified and studied the factors that influence the time taken to complete the task from the perspective of physical strength and the characteristics of the movement.
The results showed that the standing broad jump and the side jump, which were used to assess physical strength, had a meaningful correlation with the time taken to complete the HUS task across both age groups. However, factors such as the position of the head, the degree to which the leg is bent, and the presence of the taking in advance of eyes in the landing situation jumping consecutively were found to have a meaningful correlation with the time taken to complete the HUS task only among the 4-year-olds.
These results show that there is a remarkable difference between 5- and 4-year-olds in terms of physical control as indicated by factors that influence movement when performing the HUS task. They also show that factors such as the position of the head or the degree to which the leg is bent had an influence on the time taken to accomplish the HUS task among 4-year-olds.
Therefore, we conclude that when it comes to the development of athletic performance, the locomotion skills are developed first, followed by performance.

However, no appropriate exercise program based on the evaluation of physical control itself has yet been developed and implemented. Therefore, we have suggested that measurement and evaluation of the motor performance of infants should focus not only on their performance but also factors during the movement process itself. The aim of the present study was to acquire knowledge about an effective exercise program to promote the development of body control ability. For this purpose we used a task involving hopping on an elastic surface (the HES task) that requires higher body control ability, and examined the factors and movement characteristics related to task accomplishment. First, we evaluated the relationship between the HES task and other elements of physical strength (foot balance, standing broad jump, and side jump). Second, we studied the head position, tilt of the legs, direction of the toes, and line of vision at the time of landing during the HES task by using an easy method of observation evaluation, and assessed the influence of these factors on the task. The results of this study are summarized as follows: (1) The HES task was significantly correlated with the standing broad jump and side jump. (2) The time required to complete the HES task depended on a quick landing. In addition, head stability, tilt of the legs, and movement of the eyes before landing were found to be important factors influencing a quick landing. These results suggest that body control during rhythmical hopping on an elastic (unstable) surface can be assessed by studying the head position, line of vision, and tilt of the legs during the HES task. - 高度なスポーツスキルを評価するデュアルタスクの可能性

The integration of these abilities influences their sports performance. Therefore, a dual task that combines a motor task with a cognitive task may allow us to observe the subtle differences in sports skills at the expert level. In this study, to estimate sports skills experimentally, we developed a real-world dual task comprising a motor task and cognitive task that athletes typically complete during competition. Soccer and baseball players who participate in university-level competitions were recruited for the experiment, and the difference between regular and semi-regular level players was investigated. The results indicate that in the dual task, the performance of the semi-regular group deteriorated but that of the regular group did not. Moreover, it is suggested that the factor that distinguished both groups was the difference in their cognitive abilities. We concluded that the dual task was successful in allowing us to observe the subtle differences in the sports skills of athletes who have the same level of fundamental motor skills. The findings of this study will be useful for managers or head coaches who need to select regular players.

For 86 children (43 four-year-olds and 43 five-year-olds), we configured 10-weeks control period and 10-weeks exercise period. During the exercise period, we carried out an exercise programs on an unstable support surface. In this study, we used a JP cushion as an unstable support surface. The exercise programs were conducted for 12 days over a period of 10 weeks, for 30 minutes per day, under the instructor's guidance. All children were subjected to 2 measurements (height and weight) and 4 performance tests (foot balance, standing broad jump, side jump, hopping on unstable support surface ; HUS task) around the each period. We found that in standing broad jump, side jump and HUS task, the children performed remarkably improve during the exercise period. Second, interaction was found between the effectiveness in the HUS task and grade, however in other tests, no correlation was found between effectiveness and gender and between effectiveness and grade. From these results, as in the case of exercise on an unstable support surface, we get that the exercise programs on an unstable support surface was effective in improving the children's motor ability. Furthermore, the exercise programs are effective regardless of the differences in gender. - ストレートパンチ動作における熟練度が運動連鎖パターンに及ぼす影響

Task acquisition was assessed from the degree of movement error and movement acceleration profiles estimated using the surface electromyographic (EMG) activity and the muscle cocontraction index (CI). Subjects were divided into well-performing and poorly performing groups to compare task acquisition between the 2 groups. The results showed that the movement error decreased with an increase in the number of trials. Moreover, the EMG activity changes differed between the 2 groups. The movement acceleration profiles also appeared similar to the target wave (single peak acceleration). The correlation coefficient between target and movement acceleration increased with the progress of acquisition, indicating acquisition of movement smoothness. EMG activities were regulated by task acquisition, and the pattern of EMG changes depended on the performance level. The CI was lower in the well-performing group than in the poorly performing group, showing difference in muscle activity regulation between the 2 groups. In conclusion, movement error, muscle activity (including CI), and correlation coefficient between target and movement acceleration can be used to evaluate movement smoothness and muscle activity regulation by tracking task acquisition with varying target acceleration.
