Analysis of Communication Between Supporters and Foreign Children in Learning Support Activities : Focusing on Politeness Strategies for Building Good Relationships

Based on the viewpoint of politeness strategies, which are considered to be a way of maintaining human relationships, the results showed that the supporters tend to use a variety of positive politeness strategies to satisfy the positive faces of foreign children, that is, their desire to be understood, liked, and recognized by others, who have just begun living in a new environment. However, there were also examples of off-record strategies that non-explicitly indicated the supporter's intention to "give hints" in order to encourage the children's independent learning.
